President of the Southern Utah University E-Board of the National Society of Leadership and Success
WHO MADE THIS GUY PRESIDENT?
As a passionate and detail-oriented industry professional, I enjoy approaching complex projects with a holistic approach. A large part of my success while working with people stems from my ability to cultivate an intuitive understanding of their needs, and spearhead the project from there. Have a look at the work I’ve done in the past, and get in touch to learn more.

By completing being President of the SUU chapter of the NSLS, I made helping students increase their leadership skills and be better prepared for the workforce happen for student members of the NSLS. The benefit of this outcome is more prepared and capable leaders for both the University and the community. I was able to teach these students specific skills such as how to organize and coordinate events I would teach them the importance of being on time and the impact that can have on someone as a professional. Along with those elements, something I really enjoyed discussing was interviewing skills. There is an art to performing well in an interview, and I worked with great mentors that have helped me to do well in those situations. I have passed on ideas about being relaxed, confident, preparing beforehand, and understanding that not every interview will go well even if you are prepared to the members. This is not comprehensive, but its a sample of some of the great things this opportunity allowed me to share. Something else I did was help coordinate national speaker broadcasts for students to attend, where pretty famous people such as Anderson Cooper would discuss what they have learned in life that has helped them be successful and how students can apply that to their own lives.

I did fully complete my responsibilities as President of the NSLS chapter at SUU to achieve valuable leadership experience that will help me in my professional life as I work with and instruct others.
I was able to achieve this goal because of the time and effort I put into the NSLS as well as the support of my executive board and SUU staff.

Lessons learned -My experience as president helped me learn the importance of prioritization and time management. When leading other people, I've learned that it is incredibly important to be punctual and in control of whatever situation is occurring. When a group is not confident in their leader, it can have many detrimental effects, including a loss of moral and direction. I learned just how important maintaining trust and confidence is as a leader, and I am thankful for good people who stood by me even when I made mistakes. I also learned how to recognize and solve difficult problems that arise. When I first began my tenure, we had a technology problem that delayed all of the events we were having that semester. If I had taken more initiative during the transition process between myself and the previous president, these problems may not have occurred and I felt a great responsibility in that regard. Being able to acknowledge mistakes, do what I needed to in order to solve it, and move forward in spite of it is a lesson that I am very grateful to this project for.
Future plans - I learned just how important the planning process is when completing a project. In the past, I have tended to just dive into whatever it is i want to accomplish and hope that everything works out all right in the end. With this project, I took my time and knew what I was going to do for my project. Even though there were unforeseen complications, I felt better prepared and able to handle these problems. I know I did better than I would have if I had tried to tackle them with no preparation.
I also learned the importance of documenting what I was doing for my projects. I had secretaries take minute at the meetings that I presided over, and being able to review those minutes and use them as guides when I was presiding helped the meetings and the organization as a whole to flow more smoothly. It was an important aspect for the project as a whole and a skill I am glad that I have picked up.
Deliverables
My deliverable is the minutes from the meetings I presided over while I was president. They include a summary of who was present, action items that need to be done, and dates for events that were hosted. I had two different secretaries during my presidency, and it was interesting to see the different styles they had for taking minutes.
